Patrick Brown Claimed: “…the fact that Kathleen Wynne hides these deals, won’t show us the contracts…
Fact: The contracts are already public on the IESO’s website Here is the link.
Patrick Brown Claimed: “But I’m also looking at LRP2. We’re about to proceed with this giant new large procurement on renewables.”
Fact: We suspended LRP 2 last fall.
Patrick Brown Claimed: “…the Samsung deal shows there was an exit clause we could have got out of a billion and a half of surplus electricity.”
Fact: Premier Wynne renegotiated the contract with Samsung, saving Ontarians $3.7 B.
Patrick Brown Claimed: “Just last month they proceeded with 1100 more contracts”
Fact: For the tenth time, Brown’s own Energy Critic has already admitted this claim is “inaccurate.” It’s just not true - no new contracts were signed. Brown was mistakenly referring to a deadline for participants to withdraw applications to FIT 5. This is very, very clear on the IESO’s website.
Patrick Brown Claimed: “In the short term, I want them to say no to the rate hikes”
Fact: This is exactly what we are doing. Patrick Brown and the PC Party voted against taking 25% off electricity bills, and voted against holding future rates to inflation.
It’s almost been 100 days since he promised his energy plan was coming soon – so all we know about his energy policy is that he’s against significant, immediate short and medium term relief.
